A seemingly ordinary piece of plastic, at first glance it does not excel. But there are a lot of ideas hidden in it…
Capacity of each tray is increased from 41 to 45 pieces. Its new shape allows to insert three full layers (45x3 = 135 pcs) into the box instead of the original layers (41x2 = 82 pcs). Fourth layer used as a lid, in order to protect parts from vertical movement during transport and eliminate usage of additional materials such as foams for further protection/fixation. As a result, efficiency of the packaging is increased by 65%.
Material specification fully meets ESD requirements, transparent PET liner is fully recyclable.
Purpose of tray design is to evenly distribute weight over its surface (frame as well as cavities, while previous solution was only over the frame), leading to a safe solution that protects the parts, and potentially can be used with less robust outer packaging (box or carton), therefore provides an opportunity for further savings throughout the supply chain.
From an engineering point of view, compatibility with current automatic production line has been fully preserved: label scanning and handling robot head are unchanged; no additional investments were necessary.
HIGHLIGHTS:
